Courtyard by Marriott – Miramar
Challenge:
The transformation of Courtyard by Miramar – Marriott from a former Holiday Inn in San Diego, California, is a remarkable testament to focus and innovation. Spearheaded by our talented President and Design Director Shannon Rice, NCIDQ, ASID. This ambitious project began in March 2020, as well the onset of the global pandemic. Despite the unprecedented challenges posed by shut-downs affecting both the building department and Marriott International, ownership remained focused in their vision. Payte Miller Interiors rose to the occasion. Exhibiting determination throughout the design review process, even while face with limited support, we met our goal of completion in 23 months. Seeing the marquee signage go up, officially marking it’s rebirth as a Courtyard, was truly gratifying. Moreover, this inspiring story reflects not only the tenacity of those involved but also the bright future that lies ahead for hospitality in San Diego.
Improvments:
The Courtyard Bistro Bar Design has undeniably elevated this property to new heights. Gone are the days when the bar was a hidden gem, tucked away from the lobby’s bustling energy. Accordingly, the ingenious “Bar Forward” concept has transformed the space into a vibrant focal point. Now, it invites guests to indulge and gather amongst friends for a comfortable experience.
And let’s not overlook the Courtyard Fitness Center, which has undergone a remarkable metamorphosis! No longer languishing in a forgotten guestroom, it now sits proudly adjacent to the pool and meeting rooms. Naturally placed it a convenient haven for health enthusiasts, it’s new location is truly a home-run. To summerize, with amenities that surpass brand standards, this revitalized fitness center is sure to inspire guests to embrace their wellness journey in style. Therefore, these enhancements showcase a commitment to excellence and guest satisfaction that is both commendable and inspiring!
Decor:
The enchanting décor palette, meticulously crafted in-line with the Courtyard Generation 6.5 brand standards, beautifully showcases the charm of Southern California Spanish architecture and design throughout. Accordingly, a thoughtfully curated custom lighting package seamlessly marries these brand standards with a contemporary twist. By enhancing the rich, warm ambiance that guests will surely appreciate, day and evening feels more balanced. Nestled right next to MCAS Miramar, a bustling Marine Corps air base, this property is a welcoming haven for many US military personnel and contractors. Honoring their dedication, two stunning murals celebrating the incredible contributions of our armed forces and their aviation endeavors. As a result, it’s a delightful blend of style, respect, and community spirit that truly elevates the guest experience!
Achievement:
Conversion renovations undoubtedly represent the pinnacle of challenges within the realm of commercial construction, requiring not only technical expertise but also exceptional adaptability. In other words, faced with the added complexities of a global pandemic, the stakes were even higher, testing our resilience and commitment. Our success would not have been possible without the partnership with Architectural Concepts, Inc. as lead Architect. Through perseverance and teamwork, we navigated these hurdles, transforming obstacles into opportunities for innovation. Reflecting on this journey, it is clear that this Courtyard by Marriott project will stand as a testament to our capabilities and dedication, marking a significant milestone in our firm’s history. Undoubtedly, we take immense pride in not just the final outcome, but also in the collaborative spirit and hard work that brought this vision to life.
